CS:GO Cinema

Counter-Strike’s cinematic trailer was developed at Valve using the Source Filmmaker. Want to make a film of your own? Check out the “Making the Short” video below to see how in-game models, motion capture, and an original score were combined to produce the CS:GO launch video!

For more CS:GO content, make sure you visit our Resources page for videos from Valve and Community contributors.

The AWPer Hand

If you have pre-purchased Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, you might notice something new in your Team Fortress 2 backpack. As of last night, all players who pre-purchase CS:GO will receive a limited-edition TF2 item: the AWPer Hand.

The AWPer Hand is a sniper rifle whose look (and sound) should be familiar to any Counter-Strike fan. Interested in intimidating opponents in the TF2 universe? There’s still time to pick one up – players can pre-purchase CS:GO until the game releases on August 21st.

Grab the AWPer Hand and dominate the game in style.

Braaaiiiins!

CS:GO doesn’t launch alone next week.  When we go live next Tuesday, we will have some brain chomping walking dead joining us.  The guys over at plaguefest.com have been working with us to get Zombie Mod working on CS:GO and it’s ready!

It was important to us as we developed CS:GO to make sure it was as moddable and extensible as any CS game.  So this is just one of many mods that will be available to CS:GO in the coming months.  Are you actively developing a mod for CS:GO?  Let us know.

In other news, if you like CS:GO and you like movies… you should check out GameTrailers TV tonight on Spike TV.

Beta Access

Welcome to the beta.

In addition to an update to CS:GO earlier this afternoon (see the release notes here), everyone who has pre-purchased the game should now have access.

We’re excited to add so many new players to the beta today. As we approach the release of CS:GO on August 21st, play as much as you can, and let us know what you think in the forums.
